Force-fit and form-fit
Force-fitting
Force-fit load securing
is the most frequently employed method - lashing the cargo down.
The principle of lashing (force-fit load securing) works the following way: the load-securing devices being used exert pressure on the cargo, thus "pressing" it against the vehicle deck without damaging it.
Form-fitting
The principle of the form-fit load securing securing lies in lining up the cargo with no gaps against the boundaries of the loading area.
The cargo is loaded directly up against the front wall and/or against the platform gate. If there are gaps between the loads, these have to be filled (e.g., with pallets or air bags).
Spring lashing
Spring lashing is a special type of direct lashing and serves as a replacement for the bulkhead or tailboard in case the load cannot be loaded flush due to the load distribution or from a superstructure that is less stable.
Spring lashing therefore also counts to the form-fit load securing.
