Physics is always right!
When the brakes are slammed on, the cargo moves with a force of 80% of its weight (0.8 w) in the direction of travel due to its inertia.
When starting up and taking curves, 50% of the weight (0.5 w) still goes to the back or to the side.
Bumps in the road cause the cargo to lift up off of the cargo surface for a brief moment. The forces generated lift the entire weight (1.0 w) off of the cargo surface.
During transportation the cargo is exposed to great forces.
- These forces are not expressed in kilograms (kg), but in Newtons (N).
- Since 1 kilogram has the weight force, or also mass force, of about 10 Newtons, the unit decaNewton (daN) is used for easy understanding in cargo securing.
- 1kg has weight or mass force of 1 daN.
